I have such fond memories of all those oldschool speccy and C64 games I used to play over 20 years ago.

Damn, I feel old now. :(

Mine would be more recent games than that. It is amazing to think now how utterly shite some of the games are from years ago, which I used to love and play for hours  Various C64 and Amiga games. The arcade game I used to love the most was Out Run.

Of course modern PC and console games obliterate those old games in every department.

Actually could this be better in the games forum? :)

FF7

I know I've asked this before but you don't seriously watch BB do you? My brother loved the FF series and although I never played it I could certainly see the appeal. Apparently FF7, as you probably agree, was the best one.

I don't play many games, the last thing I played which I liked was Gears of War and before that it was C&C.

If we're talking *ever* probably the one thing I've spent more time with than anything else is MS Flight Simulator, all the way from FS3 through to the current version, FSX.

A Desmond? :scratchy:

UT2004 was possibly my most played PC game for a few years.

Famous South African ;)

My favourite game would probably be a multiplayer one. Sensible World of Soccer on the Amiga. Many an hour spent playing this with my bro who was a good match for me. The manager and player manager aspect of it was cool as well.

Mario Kart on the SNES is a close second, great battle modes, tournaments and time trials - just a perfect game.

It's a bit dated now, but the multi player is still great. The Merciless mod has also added some extra life to it.

Ninja Gaiden, without a doubt. Everything in the game is perfect for me, the graphics, the variety, the enemies, the difficulty (especially on Very Hard), it's just the perfect action game IMO.

Honourable mentions to Mafia, Deus Ex and Dead Rising :)

The original Call of Duty on the PC. Was the game that got me into online play and clocked up a serious number of hours playing that. Also the first clan I was ever in which I think had the highest number of alcoholics playing at one time :D

After that Oblivion. Have played nearly 200 hours on that and can't put it down. No matter what game I am currently playing I will always go back to that.

The original Delta Force.

Desert Conflict(Mod for BF1942) It actually succeeds where BF2 fails miserably in the fact that it is fun to play. Made lots of great friends playing that game. So glad they made a mod for BF2

I used to have a real thing for Pole Position on the old BBC back in the day as well.

Favourite ever game must be Kick Off 2 on the Amiga

Super Bomberman

Yeah that, and the original Micro Machines, were the most fun I've ever had playing computer games - but only with mates of course, and better after some beers!

In terms of recent (ish) games I thought Half-Life was great and totally addictive, and Command and Conquer, although I haven't played the latest version yet.

As for arcade games, anybody remember the Roadblasters game? I spent many hours playing that. And World Cup 90 (with the giant football!) and the slightly later Euro soccer game (with the "supershot"), and R-Type and R-Type 2.

I used to like the fighting games too, Gang Wars being my favourite, closely followed by Street <something>.

Yeah, could be that. Loved Desert Strike, and Jungle Strike and Urban Strike too.

Oh! So many games listed since my post that bring back memories like Delta Force, Altered Beast (the music rocked!), Streets of Rage (what a game!) and Desert Strike (cheeky Saddam drowning a guy at the start). :D

i loved the first strike game, but got very irritated with the isometric nature and constant refuleling!

Can't believe this thread has so many responses and no one has mentioned any of the Grand Theft Auto games. Probably not my favouritest game ever, but definitely racked up a few hours at Uni. There were nights when I didn't sleep after Vice City came out.

C&C rates highly, as does TES Morrowind, the predecessor to Oblivion.

I usually just kill them afterwards and steal the money back. :visage:
Afterwards? Top Tip: If you kill them before they fight back less  ;)

I can think of loads of great games i've had the pleasure of playing, but the only old one i still play pretty regularly is Vice City,so i guess that gets my vote.
